The theme for this year’s quilt challenge is “Hands Around the World.” Start planning your themed miniature quilt now. Wall hangings should be no larger than 22 inches on any side or 22 inches in diameter. The winning quilt will receive recognition during the auction. Once your item is completed, send an email to Anita Lindberg, quilt coordinator, at email@example.com. Include a description with the quilter’s name, type of item, the size, the dominant colors used, and a picture (if possible) attached to the email. For more information, visit oregonfestivalforworldrelief.com and click on “2016 Quilts.” ■
School is starting again, and it’s a great time to remember children around the world who won’t be attending the same school this year because they have been displaced from their homes due to conflict in their country. Funds collected this year through My Coins Count will support MCC refugee projects.
Refugees from countries like South Sudan, Syria, and Colombia receive food, comforters, soap, and school supplies from MCC to help meet their basic needs.
Begin collecting coins each Sunday to bring to the Oregon Mennonite Festival for World Relief on October 8. Let’s help remind refugees that people around the world are thinking about them and welcome them. ■
